Even though Chloe has done everything right, some think Chloe should have to pay for her father’s sins and a series of attacks has her taking refuge in the notorious Institute of Paranormal Studies. Chloe sees it as a second chance and she believes she has nothing to lose, but nothing could be further from the truth. Levi knows what the sassy woman who entered his domain is at first glance. She is a relic so ancient that even an elder lord descended from the first immortals has reason to fear her and he knows that he should slit her throat while he has the chance.
This vampire romance thrills readers even as it stuns them with a fascinating world full of strong, convincing characters. Chloe and Levi have some sizzling chemistry but most of the story has them trying to stay away from each other. Chloe is a survivor one that readers can’t help but admire as a heroine as she struggles for her place in a world that she doesn’t really understand and this story mostly focuses on her and the steps she takes to move forward. The romance between Levi and Chloe explodes into passion about the same time that Chloe’s life takes an unexpected turn.
The plot is steady paced and builds the suspense to thrilling and chilling proportions throughout the story with some unexpected and stunning twists that keeps readers glued to the pages. This story focuses on mostly Levi and Chloe in a fascinating university setting (think Hogwarts for supes) and a very intriguing world of vampires and supes with some refreshingly different elements but also has a conflict and an enemy that has been building up some very complex and nefarious plans for some time that is spread out throughout the series which readers won’t want to miss.
